The inevitable happened.
The Braves sent veteran arm Cole Hamels to the 45-day DL today due to tricep tendinitis. David O’Brien broke the news moments ago.
#Braves opened one spot by outrighting Yonder Alsonso to their satellite Gwinnett camp, and opened another by putting Cole Hamels (triceps tedinitis) on the 45-day IL (it's 45-day instead of 60 in this shortened season).

The loss of newly-acquired Hamels eliminates a strong veteran presence around the clubhouse and, of course, opens up a spot in the rotation.
Hamels is expected to return mid-September. In the meantime, Touki Toussaint and Kyle Wright are available to fill the role.
The Braves open up their season tomorrow at Citi Field at 4:30 PM. Tune in to SportsTalkATL for in-game analysis and highlights.
