After what happened last year, getting through Spring Training healthy is the Braves #1 priority. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been smooth sailing in that department.
Sean Murphy took a fastball to the rib and will not be ready for Opening Day. It doesn’t seem like he’ll miss too much time, but the scares didn’t stop there. A few days later, Jurickson Profar was forced to leave a game after attempting to make a diving play in the outfield and injuring his wrist. It didn’t look pretty, but both X-rays and the CT scan came back clean, and he was labeled day-to-day.
The belief is that Profar will be ready for Opening Day. According to Mark Bowman, he took batting practice yesterday with no restraints and could even get back into the Braves Spring Training lineup by the end of the week.Â
Another positive development on the injury front as the season approaches. The Braves also welcome Spencer Strider back to the mound today, his first appearance in live action since he underwent internal brace surgery on his UCL last April.
