The Braves have yet to announce the roster transaction; however, it was reported by Mark Bowman after Game 1’s extra inning victory over the Phillies that Kyle Wright will indeed be activated off the IL to start tonight’s Game 2.

Kyle Wright looked brilliant last time he was out for the Gwinnett Stripers, tossing 3.2 innings of scoreless ball with seven strikeouts. He still has to dust off the cobwebs a bit, and typically, the Braves would not be so aggressive in getting him back to the majors, but with only a few weeks left in the season, they need him to get him as many looks as possible against major-league hitting.

In Wright’s last start, he only threw 50 pitches. He will certainly be on a pitch count, which will probably be in the 60-70 pitch range, so he’ll be more like an opener until he ramps back up his workload. Hopefully, he can give the Braves 4-5 innings against an ultra-talented Phillies lineup.

Atlanta won Game 1 in Philadelphia, trimming their magic number to clinch the division down to four. If they can win two out of their next three, they could clinch their sixth straight NL East title at the home of their hated rivals. What a marvelous way that would be to cap off one of the greatest seasons in franchise history.
