About a week ago, Jorge Soler left a game against the Giants early with hamstring tightness. It was initially ruled precautionary, but as Braves fans have found out the hard way this season, nothing is as innocent as it sounds.
With Austin Riley ruled out for the season yesterday, getting Jorge Soler back in the lineup against the Phillies could have provided some sort of band-aid on the entire situation. Unfortunately, it looks as if we’ll have to wait at least a few more days. Jorge Soler isn’t in the lineup for the fifth straight game tonight, and he said he expects to return on Friday.
Soler thinks he will be ready to play Friday

The Braves slugger looks unlikely to participate in the Phillies series, and if I had to guess, I doubt he’ll be ready by Friday either. That’s just the way the season has gone, and hamstring injuries are incredibly tough to judge.
Which begs the question, why haven’t the Braves placed Jorge Soler on the IL? This has happened multiple times this season where the Braves are playing short-handed. If it is just for a day or two, so be it, but 10+ days? That’s not the kind of disadvantage the Braves should be willingly playing under on top of all of their injured players. It’s questionable roster management at best, but it’s not like the Braves have a ton of inspiring options to take Soler’s spot.
