One rumor that has been picking up steam over the last week or so is Kenley Jansen joining the San Francisco Giants. Sometime last week, it was reported that San Francisco had interest, and quickly after, David Vassegh said the sides were discussing a two-year contract.

Last night, MLB insider Jon Morosi talked about it on MLB Network.

Morosi confirms there has been contact between Kenley Jansen and the Giants. He also discusses the fit, which is seamless. Jansen has pitched most of his career in the NL West. The Giants have a young bullpen in need of a leader at the back end. Manager Gabe Kapler and President of Baseball Operations Farhan Zaidi were also with the Dodgers when Jansen was dominating the majors in his prime.
Morosi mentions all of this, and combined with the Giants apparent willingness to offer him a multi-year contract, it seems Jansen’s days in Atlanta are over. I don’t think the Braves will be interested in giving him a two-year deal. At this point, I would be pretty surprised if he doesn’t end up in San Francisco.
