With all the injuries that have taken place over the past week for the Braves, it’s nice to see someone nearing their return. Atlanta announced this morning that RHP, Jacob Webb, will begin his rehab assignment with the GCL Braves tonight.

The rookie reliever burst on to the scene, quickly becoming one of the most relied on arms by manager Brian Snitker. In 36 appearances, he’s carrying a 1.39 ERA, and while that won’t last forever, he will be a crucial cog in Atlanta’s bullpen for the remainder of the season, providing he is healthy.
Webb was placed on the IL on July 15th with an elbow injury. Luckily, it turned out to only be a bone spur, but there was enough discomfort to keep him sidelined until now. Five days ago, Mark Bowman speculated Webb could be out for at least a couple of more weeks, so his return to the mound this quickly is promising. We will continue to monitor Webb’s performances throughout his rehab assignments until he makes his inevitable return to Atlanta.
