The Braves suffered an embarrassing loss yesterday. After rallying in the 9th inning, Kenley Jansen blew a save by allowing two solo home runs. However, the Braves were down 6-2 going into the 9th inning. That was due somewhat in part to Jake Odorizzi allowing four earned runs in only 3.2 innings. Odorizzi has a 4.97 ERA over 29 innings for the Braves. At this point, he’s a sunk cost, and you only gave up Will Smith to acquire his services. It is time to give Kyle Muller another look. He has been fantastic in Gwinnett over the past few weeks:
In case you were wondering, Muller has a 2.19 ERA over his past four starts for Gwinnett. He pitched Friday. So, he'd be in position to start against the Phillies next weekend, if the Braves opt to remove Odorizzi from the rotation. Gives them a lefty vs. Harper, Schwarber & Co.

Muller is a guy that I picked as a potential piece to help the Braves down the stretch. He has been fantastic in Gwinnett, striking out 145 batters over 123.2 innings. Muller has drastically cut his walks down to 37, something that plagued him in Atlanta. He has also only surrendered five home runs. Muller could serve in the same role that Kyle Wright did in 2021, and Wright was a critical piece to the World Series run. Even if it’s just a spot start to give guys some rest, Muller has nothing left to prove in Gwinnett, at least in 2022.
