The Hot Stove is burning up! Juan Soto was just traded to the Padres, and the Braves made a pair of under-the-radar trades late last night by acquiring Jake Odorizzi from the Astros in exchange for Will Smith and Robbie Grossman from the Tigers. But they might not be done just yet after reports surfaced the Braves were involved in trade talks surrounding Noah Syndergaard.
Noah Syndergaard trade becoming more likely, sources say; Blue Jays, Phillies and Braves involved in talks over past 48 hours. Atlanta's deal for Jake Odorizzi, per @MarkBermanFox26, could impact that. Credit to @_bkuh_ for reporting Toronto's involvement. @MLBNetwork @Sportsnet

The Angels trading Syndergaard has reportedly become more likely ahead of the trade deadline, and there will be a handful of suitors bidding for the 2016 All-Star’s services, who has posted a 3.83 ERA across 15 starts for LA this season.
Braves Country knows him well from his time spent with the Mets, where he compiled a 2.93 ERA with 573 strikeouts in 518.1 innings across 87 appearances. However, injuries have absolutely derailed his career. Most recently, he missed the entire 2020 season and much of the following year while recovering from Tommy John surgery.
He’s still only 29 years old and could be a solid back-of-the-rotation starter, but Syndergaard’s contract is a massive hurdle for any team acquiring him. He’s on an expiring deal but is still owed $21 million this season. The Angels are fading out of playoff contention, so there’s no reason to hold on to him, but the Braves just acquired Odorizzi from Houston. I’d expect the club to no longer be interested in his services.
