If you’re beginning to think this has gotten a little ridiculous, it’s because it has. I’m not sure I have ever seen a team so snake bitten by injuries this early in the season, and we can add another significant contributor to the list. Per the Braves, A.J. Minter is heading to the IL with left hip inflammation.
The #Braves today recalled RHP Jimmy Herget to Atlanta and placed LHP A.J. Minter on the 15-day injured list with left hip inflammation.

Spencer Strider and Ronald Acuña Jr, arguably the Braves best two players, are both lost for the season. All-Star catcher Sean Murphy has played a total of three games. All-Stars Austin Riley and Ozzie Albies each missed multiple weeks. Pierce Johnson has missed time. AJ Smith-Shawver is expected to be out multiple months after recently suffering an oblique strain, and now the Braves will be without their best set-up man for at least a couple of weeks.
A.J. Minter looked to be on his way to another incredible year for the Braves. He’s 5-3 with a 2.95 ERA over 25 appearances to begin the season. The strikeout numbers are a little down compared to previous years, but that can likely be attributed to sample size. He’s been Brian Snitker‘s go-to option in high-leverage situations in every season since 2020. Losing him for a significant amount of time is a massive blow for the Braves, and at this point, it just feels like everything that possibly can go wrong has gone wrong in Atlanta.
