As I correctly predicted on this week’s episode of Blooper’s Brigade, the Braves aren’t going to rush Ian Anderson back to the big league club with a wealth of options in the rotation.
Alex Anthopoulos says that Ian Anderson will make another rehab start Tuesday and if all goes well, he could be slotted back into the rotation after that

We talked about this in-depth, but there will be an odd man out in the rotation between Huascar Ynoa, Drew Smyly, and Touki Toussaint. Ynoa has the makeup of a lockdown relief arm with a hard fastball and sweeping slider, but he has been playing very well out of the rotation. I expect Josh Tomlin to be replaced by Anderson on the Major League roster, but Anderson will be back in the rotation regardless.
Having Ian Anderson back will be a massive breath of fresh air. While this Braves rotation has been pretty good in 2021, there is still a lot of work to be done, and Anderson has been Atlanta’s most consistent starter for the duration of the season. While Charlie Morton, Max Fried, and Drew Smyly have caught on while Toussaint and Ynoa have been good surprises, we have seen how Anderson can pitch down the stretch and in the playoffs.
