In some slightly heartbreaking news, Guillermo Heredia‘s departure from the Braves became official last night. Sure, he was already designated for assignment by the team last week to clear a spot on the 40-man roster, but I was holding out hope he might return on a minor-league deal. Despite not bringing much to the team in terms of production, the vibes he brought to the clubhouse were immaculate. There’s a reason the Braves hung onto him for so long.
Now, those vibes have found a new home — in another country, for that matter. It was reported last night that Heredia is taking his talents to the Korean Baseball Organization in 2023.
Sources: Guillermo Heredia will sign with a KBO team for the 2023 season and will no longer play with the Estrellas Orientales in the Dominican Winter League during 2022. The contract will be in the $ 1 M range.

Like most of you, I know next to nothing about the KBO, but I do know this: they are getting a gem in Guillermo Heredia. I’m not sure I’ve ever loved a player \that hit a staggering .158 for my team more than him, but he will be missed by his teammates and the fans in Atlanta next season.
