Braves get great news on Jurickson Profar’s injury

The Braves can’t seem to shake the injury bug. First, it was Sean Murphy, who took a fastball off the ribs and will be sidelined for around a month. Then, it was Jurickson Profar.

The newest member of the Braves outfield suffered what the club called a jammed wrist, and it looked bad. However, we got great news. According to MLB.com’s Mark Bowman, X-rays were negative on Profar’s wrist.

Jurickson has seemingly avoided a major injury and isn’t expected to miss Opening Day. The Braves signed him to a three-year, $42 million deal this offseason after he bashed 24 home runs and a .280/.380/.459 slash line with the Padres en route to All-Star and Silver Slugger honors.

Losing Profar to the injured list would’ve been brutal for a Braves club that will already be missing Ronald Acuna Jr., Spencer Strider, and Sean Murphy for several weeks into the season.

The outfield is one area the Braves did bolster this offseason after watching depth issues rear their ugly head last year. Jarred Kelenic and Bryan De La Cruz will platoon in right field until Acuna is back. Hopefully, there are no lingering issues with Jurickson Profar, though.
