Alex Anthopoulos has been a busy man since the offseason began earlier this week. His first significant move was trading Jorge Soler to the Angels to clear up salary. And today, he inked a couple of short extensions with stars from the 2024 campaign.

MLB.com’s Mark Bowman added some context to the situation. Aaron Bummer had an option for the 2025 season, which the Braves were already going to pick up. Instead, he gets a two-year deal worth $13 million. The contract is back loaded, paying him just $3.5 million in 2025 and $9.5 million in 2026.
Bummer appeared in 56 games for the Braves this year, boasting a 3.58 ERA, 2.23 FIP, and 11.2 K/9.
Similarly, the Braves re-worked the contract of Reynaldo Lopez, who was scheduled to make $11 million in 2025. Now, he’ll make $8 million. In exchanged, the Braves have picked up his option for 2027, which will pay him $8 million.
Lopez was a revelation for the Braves, the only team that saw his potential as a starting pitcher last offseason. He posted a 1.99 ERA over 29 starts this year, making the first All-Star Game of his career.
