Another blue box has arrived! And this one should have Braves fans thrilled. According to the Atlanta Braves team account, general manager Alex Anthopoulos has inked an extension with the team that will take him through the 2031 season.

Alex Anthopoulos isn’t just one of the best GMs in baseball, he’s one of the best general managers in all of sports. He took over the Braves following the 2017 season, and the organization was in a good spot as they were coming out of the rebuild, but he’s pushed all the right buttons since, helping lead the Braves to six straight division titles and the club’s first World Series since 1995 in 2021.
Beyond that, however, Anthopoulos has set the Braves up for unparalleled future success. The blue box from the Atlanta Braves team account has become synonymous with long-term, team-friendly contracts, so it’s only fitting that one popped up with Alex Anthopoulos’ name on it, guaranteeing that he will be with the Braves for the next eight seasons.
When that contract is up, we could be talking about the Braves chasing their own record for the most consecutive division titles in MLB history. Hopefully, they also have a few more World Series trophies in their trophy case as well, and by the end of this contract, it may finally be time to really start thinking about building the Alex Anthopoulos statue. As long as he’s in charge, the Braves are in fantastic hands. The future is beaming bright for the baseball club in Atlanta.
