It’s been a tough few years for Ender Inciarte, as he’s gone from a beloved and undervalued Gold-Glove outfielder to one of the worst center fielders on a major league roster seemingly overnight. He managed to hit just .190 with a .512 OPS in 46 games last season, and even his defense began to show signs of regression. However, because of his contract, the Braves were pretty much forced to roster him to start the 2021 campaign, hoping he could bounce back and show signs of his 2017-self.
Inciarte actually got off to a pretty promising start, collecting five hits in his first 17 at-bats (.294 average), but a hamstring injury stopped all of his progress and forced him onto the IL. He’s been out since mid-April, but it looks like the Braves could be getting him back soon. The team Twitter account announced today that he will begin his rehab assignment tonight in Gwinnett.

Hopefully, everything goes smoothly, and Inciarte can join the Braves for their weekend series against the Phillies. Pache is a promising prospect, but so far, he’s struggled mightily at the plate. He deserves many more opportunities before the Braves bench him, but Inciarte is a nice option to have just in case things don’t improve.
