When Kyle Wright was scratched from his start last night in Gwinnett, it was suspected he would be coming up to start for the Braves. Those suspicions were proven correct, as Atlanta recalled Wright from AAA this afternoon to toe the rubber in game one against the Nationals.
The Braves also made another move – one that will be met with mixed reactions from the fan base. Ender Inciarte is officially back. Brian Snitker already informed us Inciarte would be returning at some point in the homestand, but it was unclear if it would happen before this weekend. The three-time Gold Glove Award winner is starting in center field tonight for Austin Riley, and Ronald Acuña will be moving to left.
As a result of the call ups, Bryse Wilson and Huascar Ynoa were sent down, suggesting that Kevin Gausman will be starting for Bryse Wilson on Sunday Night Baseball.
Along with recalling Kyle Wright to start tonight, the Braves activated Ender Inciarte. Ynoa and Wilson were optioned.

It’s unknown if the Braves will roll with a short-handed bullpen until they figure out what to do with Inciarte. If not, they could choose to demote someone with options like Johan Camargo or Austin Riley. However, sending down any current position player for Inciarte will not bode well with the fan base, and frankly, wouldn’t make much sense unless the Braves are trying to showcase him for a trade.
Inciarte hit .205 in 13 minor league rehab starts before being called up.
