Last night, the Braves made their first free agent acquisition of the offseason, signing high upside relief pitcher Nick Anderson to a one-year pact. In a corresponding move, Atlanta designated Rylan Bannon for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.
The Atlanta #Braves today signed RHP Nick Anderson to a one-year, non-guaranteed split contract for the 2023 season. To make room on the 40-man roster, the club designated INF Rylan Bannon for assignment.

Bannon is a utility infielder that did appear in one game for the Braves last season, but most of his time was spent in AAA, where he actually posted some very respectable numbers. In 99 minor-league games, Bannon had 13 homers, 79 RBIs, and a .789 OPS. We’ll see if another team takes a flier on him, or if the Braves can get him back and stash him as organizational depth.
