The Braves made their signing of Jake Lamb official today, and to make room on the 40-man roster, they designated left-handed pitcher Phil Pfeifer for assignment.

Clint did a fantastic job of breaking down what Lamb brings to the table yesterday. If you haven’t read it yet, check that out here.Â
Pfeifer is 28-year-old that was a fringe Top 30 prospect for the Braves. He performed marvelously in 2019 throughout three levels (A+-AAA) and his success continued into Spring Training last year. However, the fact that he never made an appearance during the 2020 season despite all the issues the Braves pitching staff struggled through is telling. I thought there was a chance we might see him in Atlanta this season, but Anthopoulos clearly felt more confident in his other options.
