According to Francys Romero, the Braves are designating outfielder J.P. Martinez for assignment.

Although there has been no official transaction announcement for the Braves, it can be expected this move is to make room for Eddie Rosario, who recently signed a minor-league deal with the club and spent the weekend playing for the Gwinnett Stripers. In three games, he had three hits, including a triple and a home run.
It’s been a difficult road for Eddie Rosario since helping the Braves to the World Series in 2021, which earned him a two-year contract to return to Atlanta. He was almost unplayable in 2022 because of vision issues, which caused him to miss a large chunk of the season, and while he was serviceable in 2023, it wasn’t enough for the Braves to bring him back, leading him to sign a deal with the Nationals.
In Washington, Rosario was dreadful, hitting just .183 with seven homers over 67 games. Eventually, he was designated for assignment and released by the Nationals, allowing the Braves — who are desperate for outfield help — to scoop him back up.
Eddie Rosario shouldn’t be expected to play every day for the rest of the season and fix all of Atlanta’s problems, but he’s a streaky hitter that has the potential to go nuclear. Perhaps he can give the Braves enough to get them to the trade deadline, where they can make some more significant acquisitions in their preparation for the stretch run.
