Amid all the transactions on Wednesday, the Braves decided to designate Luiz Gohara for assignment. The team announced this only moments ago.
The #Braves today designated LHP Luiz Gohara for assignment.

There were no signs of Gohara returning this season, making it another lost year for the lefty starter that was once a top prospect in the Braves system. When active, he had the repertoire to be a top-of-the-rotation arm. The problem was his body would not cooperate.
Ever since coming to Atlanta for Mallex Smith and Shae Simmons, Gohara was dealing with substantial weight issues. He appeared in five games for the Braves in 2017 and nine in 2018, but a tragic loss in the family plus injury cut his season short.
There were positive signs regarding his weight coming into this year, but an undisclosed arm injury has forced him to miss the entire season. It’s apparent the front office lost confidence in him ever playing a role again for the Braves, and his trade value was non-existent.
As always, we wish Gohara all the best in his future endeavors as he fights his way back to the majors.
