Braves designate Eddie Rosario for assignment

MLB: AUG 22 Mets at Braves

Following a fourth straight loss last night, the Braves made several roster moves, including designating Eddie Rosario for assignment.

Eli White will take Rosario’s spot on the roster. The Braves also optioned Dylan Dodd back to Gwinnett and brought up Parker Dunshee, who could get a look this afternoon if the game gets out of hand.

Rosario’s second stint with the Braves will go down as nothing more than forgettable. Alex Anthopoulos swooped him up after he struggled mightily over the first half of the season with the Washington Nationals, hoping Rosario could rekindle some magic as he did so many times before in Atlanta.

To say it didn’t work would be an understatement. Rosario was even worse with the Braves than he was with the Nationals, hitting just .154 with a .463 OPS over 24 games in Atlanta. The writing was likely on the wall with Michael Harris set to return next week, but with only a 0.5-game lead over the Mets in the Wild Card race, Anthopoulos must have felt it was time to rip the band-aid off now.
