In a bit of disappointing news, two of the four players Atlanta needed to square up with did not come to deals before today’s 1:00 PM deadline.
The Braves reached agreements with Max Fried ($3.5M) and A.J. Minter ($1.3M). Their other two arb-eligible players Dansby Swanson and Mike Soroka are now slated to have their respective salaries determined by an arb hearing.

Sometimes these hearings get ugly, but ideally, they can be cordial. Mike Foltynewicz’s was an example of one hearing that did not go so well. This was expected around baseball with money being tight, and hopefully Atlanta can come to a deal with these guys without any bad blood. Soroka’s injury is undoubtedly playing into the team and Mike not agreeing on a number, and Dansby’s elite play in 2020 probably led to that disconnect.
Max Fried & AJ Minter both agreed to deals, so hopefully something gets figured out quickly.
