After Mike Soroka came out on top in his arbitration hearing with Atlanta, Dansby Swanson did not have such luck.

Swanson requested $6.7 million, and the arbitrator awarded him $6 million. Personally, I wanted to extend Swanson this offseason, but I understand COVID has caused some “hardship” for Liberty Media, and Freddie Freeman’s extension is a much higher priority. Hopefully, this result doesn’t harbor any hard feelings between Dansby and the front office, and an extension gets done at some point.
Even though it was a shortened season, Swanson had a career-year in 2020. He played in all sixty games, setting career-highs in average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and OPS. His ten home runs also put him well ahead of pace to crush his career-high (17) in that category as well.
