Dansby Swanson continued his rehab assignment in Rome tonight after serving as the DH last night, and Austin Riley joined him. Although, neither did much. Dansby looked comfortable in the field, which is the most important aspect of this rehab. Austin Riley was relegated to DH duties
Riley, unfortunately, went 0-4 with a strikeout and was pinch-hit for in the ninth inning. Swanson did have a hit and walk, going 1-3 with two strikeouts in his other at-bats.
An interesting note about this game, Shea Langeliers went 2-4 with a double and a walk. Really happy to see he’s adjusting in Rome.
Swanson is expected to play at least one, if not, two more games in the field. According to Grant McAuley of 680 the Fan, there is hope he could join the team on Monday in Colorado.
Dansby Swanson will play shortstop for Rome again Saturday and is hopeful to rejoin the #Braves in Colorado on Monday.

Now, McAuley’s a pretty plugged in dude with the Braves, so I don’t have much reason to doubt him, but I’m going to a little here. With as cautiously as the organization is with their injured players, Hechavarria filling in splendidly, and the trip to Colorado only being for one game; I don’t see why Swanson would travel out there. It makes much more sense for him to take an extra day off and meet the team in Toronto. However, either way, it’s fantastic to see things are trending in the right direction, and he should be on the field before September.
McAuley also reports that Riley will play in the field for five innings tomorrow. The plan is for him to spend this weekend in Rome before heading to Gwinnett next week. Providing everything goes well health-wise, and Riley shows some improvement with the bat, he should join the Braves around the beginning of September.
