The Braves made a roster move ahead of Tuesday night’s game with the Rangers, calling up Jared Shuster to make his third start of the season. In a corresponding move, Danny Young has been optioned to Gwinnett. The Braves also announced left-handed reliever Lucas Luetge will begin his rehab assignment in AA Mississippi.
The #Braves today recalled LHP Jared Shuster to Atlanta and optioned LHP Danny Young to Triple-A Gwinnett following last night’s game. Additionally, LHP Lucas Luetge will begin a rehabilitation assignment with Double-A Mississippi.

Luetge was acquired from the Yankees during the offseason. In New York, he proved to be an ultra-reliable reliever for the Pinstripes, but his Atlanta career got off to a shaky start.
Luetge gave up six earned runs over his first five appearances for the Braves, but hopefully, those troubles can be attributed to the injury he sustained, and he looks much better once he returns from his rehab stint.
As we’ve seen early this season, you can never have too many arms, whether they are starters or relievers. Luetge has a track record of success. He posted a 2.67 ERA last season with the Yankees and had a 2.74 ERA the year before that. Having a guy like that back in the fold could be a huge boost to an Atlanta bullpen that has struggled as of late.
