Not the exciting free agent news we were expecting, but Atlanta’s 40-man roster has a new addition.
The #Braves today claimed INF Jack Mayfield off waivers from the Houston Astros. The club’s 40-man roster stands at 38.

The 30-year-old righty Mayfield has 106 career MLB at-bats, hitting .170 with a .481 OPS. He has, however, been very good defensively with a 0.9 DWAR over 47 games. In AAA in 2019, he hit for a .916 OPS with 26 HRs. He may just be a career AAAA player, but he could also be a potential Johan Camargo replacement. He’s listed primarily as a 2nd baseman, but I trust Alex Anthopoulous’ judgment if he sees something in this guy.
Welcome to Atlanta, Jack!
