Just minutes ago, the Braves announced they had placed Chris Martin on the IL with right elbow inflammation.
The #Braves today recalled LHP Sean Newcomb to Atlanta and placed RHP Chris Martin on the 10-day injured list with right elbow inflammation.

In a corresponding move, Sean Newcomb will take Martin’s place on the roster.
Like most GMs, Alex Anthopoulos has been known to manipulate the roster by using the IL, but I don’t think that’s the case here. The Braves can’t afford to lose any bullpen pieces, and even though Martin has struggled of late, he’s still one of the better relief arms in the organization. Let’s hope this is nothing serious, but you can never be too cautious anytime a pitcher’s elbow is in question.
