It’s actually the crazy the Braves have been as good as they have been with the number of injuries the pitching staff has suffered. We all know about Max Fried and Kyle Wright, but now the team is down four of their top relievers following the news that A.J. Minter will hit the 15-day IL with shoulder inflammation.
The #Braves today recalled RHP Dereck RodrÃguez to Atlanta and placed LHP A.J. Minter on the 15-day injured list, backdated to July 12, with left shoulder inflammation. Additionally, LHP Max Fried’s rehabilitation assignment has been transferred to High-A Rome.

Minter left last week’s game in what looked to be like a precautionary measure. Hopefully, this stint on the IL is just to give him some much needed rest. He’s been one of the most used relievers in baseball, and with the cushion the Braves have on the entire National League, it would make some sense to do this if there was anything feeling off.
Still, I hate seeing shoulder inflammation with any pitcher. These types of injuries can linger and re-aggravate quickly. A.J. Minter isn’t having the best season, but he is by far the most important piece of the Braves bullpen. For this team to reach its ultimate goal, they need him at the top of his game come October.
