The Braves most recent tweet made me smile before sticking a dagger right through my heart. On the bright side, Touki Toussaint has been reinstated from the 60-day IL, but in a corresponding move, Ian Anderson is heading to the IL with shoulder inflammation.
The #Braves today reinstated RHP Touki Toussaint from the 60-day injured list and placed RHP Ian Anderson on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 13, with right shoulder inflammation.

Let’s start with the good: Toussaint is back, and he’s looked splendid in his last two outings with the Stripers. He’s allowed just two runs and nine baserunners over his last 12 innings with 18 punch outs. Hopefully, that can carry over to the majors; however, the issue with Toussaint has always been consistency. The stuff is there; he just hasn’t been able to put it all together at the highest level, and this might be his last opportunity to do so with the Braves.
Now, with the bad news. Ian Anderson had some shoulder discomfort during his last start against the Marlins. That’s never a good sign for a pitcher, and given everything that has happened to the Braves this season from an injury perspective, you can expect they will be ultra-cautious with Anderson. This could end up just being a quick stint on the IL, and we might see him next week, but it also wouldn’t shock me if they shut him down for the remainder of the season.
