The Braves brought back a familiar face last week when they signed Lane Adams. Jon Heyman reported they are bringing back yet another in Lucas Duda.
Lucas Duda to Braves. Starts at aaa

A longtime NL East foe with the Mets, Duda was acquired from the Royals for cash last season in an attempt to patch their thin bench. He did not see many at-bats, with Freddie Freeman being the iron horse that he is. Now the Braves have a deep bench, and Duda will have to settle for a minor league contract after a 2019 season that has already seen him cut by the Twins and Royals.
Realistically, Duda may not even see the field for Atlanta. But he will serve as quality depth in the minor leagues with a decent major league track record if god forbid an injury occurred. If Duda performs well in AAA, he should be brought up as an extra bench bat for September. He will never hit for a high average but can provide some extra pop. Not that the Braves need it.
With all the call ups today, there should be a lot of familiar faces in Gwinnett. It may be a good time to catch a game at Coolray.
