The Braves travel to Philadelphia to open the season, one of the best rivalries in the sport today. While Atlanta has dominated the division, winning six straight division titles and a World Series, the Phillies have knocked them out in each of the last two postseasons.
Atlanta’s season has ended in Philadelphia both times, a place that is quickly gaining notoriety as perhaps the best October atmosphere in the sport. Nobody has ever questioned the passion of the Philadelphia faithful. They love their teams across all sports with incredible intensity.
But there’s a fine line between passion and being a straight up asshole, and Philadelphia seems to cross that line more than any other fan base. On The Steakhouse with 92.9 The Game’s Steak Shapiro, Brian Snitker discussed the Phillies fans, who said they were so nasty to his wife and kids that they will never go to another game at Citizens Bank Park again.
Brian Snitker on The Steakhouse just said that Philly fans are so nasty and brutal to his wife and kids at Citizens Bank Park that they will never go to a game in that stadium again.
This is the stuff that Philly fans are proud of, it's despicable.

What’s truly disgusting is there is a large enough portion of the Philadelphia fan base that wears this as a badge of honor. They are proud of it, believing this kind of despicable behavior makes them tough when it couldn’t be further from the truth.
The mob mentality allows for this. Because they’re surrounded by a group of people from the same city, they think it’s okay to essentially jump opposing fan bases. It happens to many opposing fans that visit the city, which is one thing, but these are family members, women, and children.
It’s frankly one of the most pathetic things going right now in sports. It’s a game, some of these people are just supporting their family, and full grown adults are berating them like some sort of violent circus clowns. Anybody who supports this kind of behavior is a genuine loser; there’s no other way around it.
Grow up, Philadelphia, the city of trash (and second place).
