The Braves have been haunted by the injury bug at the worst of times. Nick Markakis, Austin Riley, and Dansby Swanson are all on the 10-Day IL, but the team finally received some positive news regarding one of their star players. Austin Riley, who recently saw Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion on his partially torn LCL, will not need surgery to repair the injury.

Even if Riley did need surgery, there was a chance he would have been ready to return for a potential playoff race. Now, it looks as if he will only miss two weeks, as he suggests in the video.
“If we were in a playoff race tomorrow, then I could go,” Riley says. He also said that he swung some off the tee today and threw. This has to be music to the Braves ears, who recently called up outfielder Rafael Ortega from AAA to help their ailing outfield. If Atlanta wants to take home the World Series trophy for the first time since 1995; they are going to need Austin Riley to be a substantial contributor.
