Over the last couple of seasons, it seems like every Braves player has been added to the paternity list at one point or another. And today, it was Austin Riley’s turn. The team announced he will miss at least Wednesday’s game for the birth of his child.
The #Braves today placed INF Austin Riley on the paternity list and recalled INF Travis Demeritte from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Obviously, this is a super exciting moment for Riley, who is just winning at life right now. Hopefully, everything goes over smoothly, and he’s back in the Braves lineup sooner rather than later… because the lineup Atlanta is rolling with today doesn’t inspire much confidence, especially against the Dodgers.

In Riley’s absence, Travis Demeritte will take his place on the roster. He’s a journeyman of sorts that hasn’t quite found his footing yet in the majors; however, he’s experienced plenty of success in AAA. Given how thin the Braves bench is, there’s a chance Demeritte earns a permanent place on the roster down the road, but he has to make the most of these opportunities for that to happen.
