Today was the deadline for players to agree on a contract before arbitration. The Braves had seven players that needed to get deals done:
- Mike Foltynewicz
- Charlie Culberson
- Kevin Gausman
- Arodys Vizcaino
- Dan Winkler
- Adam Duvall
- Sam Freeman
As of now, the Braves have signed three of those players, all one-year deals.
Mike Foltynewicz was signed to a $5.5 million contract, a nice boost from the $2.2 million he made last year. Charlie Culberson signed a contract worth $1.395 million, and Arodys Vizcaino will be paid $4.8 million next year.
Update: The Braves have agreed to a one-year, non-guaranteed contract with Adam Duvall worth $2.875 million. The deal will be guaranteed if Adam Duvall is on the opening day roster.
Update #2: The Braves have avoided arbitration with Daniel Winkler by signing him to a one-year pact worth $1.61 million.
Update #3: The Braves avoid arbitration entirely by signing Kevin Gausman (9.35M) and Sam Freeman (1.575M) to one-year deals.
Arbitration does not suggest there will not be a deal, but it’s nice to see the two sides come together without being forced to do so, as the Braves look ahead to the start of spring training.
