With Spencer Strider on the IL, the Braves waited until after Tuesday’s game to announce their Wednesday starter. It will be Allan Winans, per David O’Brien of The Athletic.

Winans was a star in Gwinnett last year, posting a 2.85 ERA over 126.1 innings. It was enough for him to earn his first shot in the bigs, starting six games with varying results. However, his best major-league outing did come against the Mets, when he tossed seven scoreless innings with nine strikeouts.
We’ll see how permanent of a fixture he becomes in the Braves rotation. The club probably would have gone with Bryce Elder in place of Strider, but he would have been on short rest.
Things worked out for Winans, and if he can turn in a high-quality outing, they may turn to him again in five days. In his only start this season, he tossed 5.2 innings and allowed two earned runs for the Stripers.
