Today, the rosters expanded from 26 to 28 players, and the Braves have added two familiar faces to the team.
The #Braves today returned INF Orlando Arcia from his rehabilitation assignment and reinstated him from the injured list, and reported RHP Jesse Chavez to Atlanta.

Arcia and Chavez have been critical pieces to the Braves this season. It’s fantastic to see both of them back in Atlanta.
Arcia has been out since August 9th with a hamstring injury. Before that, he was filling in splendidly for the injured Ozzie Albies, but I don’t expect him to go back to starting. With Vaughn Grissom emerging, Arcia is likely to return to his role as the team’s primary utility man.
Of course, Chavez is back following a brief (and forgetful) stint with the Angels after the Braves traded him at the deadline. For whatever reason, he can’t seem to pitch well for anyone else, but with Atlanta, he’s been among the best relievers in baseball. Over 38.1 innings before the trade, Chavez posted a 2.11 ERA. Given how the Braves bullpen has struggled as of late, it’s a relief to have him back in the fold.
These weren’t the only moves the Braves made, though.
The club also returned RHP Mike Soroka from his rehabilitation assignment, reinstated him from the injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett. To make room on the 40-man roster, Atlanta transferred RHP Darren O’Day to the 60-day IL.

Soroka is now back on the 40-man roster, and I wouldn’t be shocked if he was in Atlanta within a couple of weeks. To make room for him, O’Day was transferred to the 60-day IL, ending his season.
