The Braves have a plethora of players on their way back from injury, but a couple of them suffered setbacks during their rehab assignments.
The #Braves returned RHP Darren O’Day and C Chadwick Tromp from their rehabilitation assignments after both sustained injuries in yesterday’s game for Gwinnett. Tromp reinjured his left quadricep, while O’Day suffered a sprained big right toe.

Tromp just began his rehab assignment, so his injury seems legitimate. I thought he had an outside chance of being called up to the major-league team when rosters expanded, but now it’s unlikely we see him again this season.
Darren O’Day‘s situation is different. Anytime I see “a sprained right big toe,” I have my suspicions. It’s likely this is roster manipulation. The Braves probably didn’t want to add him to the active roster, but they also didn’t want to designate him for assignment, so they hit him with a phantom IL stint. The Braves have enough relief arms, especially following the addition of Jesse Chavez. But if someone gets injured or struggles to end the season, we could see O’Day back in Atlanta at some point.
