It truly is a celebration on July 4th for Braves country, as they have activated two of their heroes from last year’s postseason run ahead of a critical four-game series with the Cardinals.
The #Braves today returned OF Eddie Rosario and LHP Tyler Matzek from their rehabilitation assignments and reinstated them from the injured list.

Rosario, last year’s NLCS MVP, played in eight games for the Stripers and went 9-for-33 at the plate. It’s nothing to write home about, but as long as his vision is back to normal, this is a huge addition to the Braves lineup, who desperately needed to add a left-handed bat.
Matzek only appeared in two games for the Stripers, but it was evident very quickly that he didn’t need much time on the farm. He didn’t allow a single baserunner and struck out five of the six batters he faced. With all the injuries Atlanta’s bullpen is currently suffering, adding a healthy Matzek should do this team wonders.
To make room for Matzek and Rosario, the Braves designated Silvino Bracho for assignment and sent Mike Ford to AAA Gwinnett.
To make room on the active and 40-man rosters, Atlanta optioned INF Mike Ford to Triple-A Gwinnett and designated RHP Silvino Bracho for assignment.
