At this rate, half of the Braves roster will be on the IL by the time August rolls around. Four players over the past week have hit the Injured List — Nick Anderson, A.J. Minter, Kolby Allard, and now, Sam Hilliard, who tweaked something while attempting to beat out a grounder last night. In a corresponding move, the Braves have added right-handed pitcher Seth Elledge to the roster. They have also released Danny Young.
The #Braves today selected RHP Seth Elledge to the major league roster, placed OF Sam Hilliard on the 10-day injured list with a right heel contusion, and released LHP Danny Young from the roster.

The good news is most of the Braves injured players should return, and there is still plenty of time remaining until the postseason. However, a lot of guys are going to have to step up until that happens.
Elledge is a 27-year-old right-hander that last appeared in the majors back in 2021 with the Cardinals. He only has 23.1 career innings under his belt, recording a 4.63 ERA. It’s not exactly inspiring, but that is the state of the Braves pitching staff right now without three starters and four of their top relievers. There could be a lot more games like last night in this team’s future until guys get healthy.
