Oddly, Ronald Acuña did not come to the plate in the third inning after starting the game and was replaced by Billy Hamilton. He was seen in the dugout afterward and wasn’t receiving any treatment. However, the broadcast team reported he was removed from the game as a precaution with right hip tightness.
With the Braves essentially playing for nothing, there is no reason to risk anything with arguably the best player on their roster. It’s slightly disappointing that he won’t be able to inch closer to the 40/40 mark, as he remains three steals away, but that is an individual milestone that doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things.
Update: Acuña said, if it was up to him, he would have stayed in the game. He’s questionable for tomorrow. See more here.
