Braves ace Max Fried leaves game with injury

Braves offseason free agency

Opening Day is one of the most exciting days on the calendar for baseball nuts. The result of the game isn’t all that important. The Braves have struggled out of the gate in recent years and ended the season as division champions five times in a row. However, one thing you want to avoid is injuries, and the Braves suffered a significant one this afternoon in Max Fried, who left the game in the fourth inning after covering the first base bag.

From the look of it, it appears to be a hamstring injury. Fried did attempt to throw a warm-up pitch to see if he could continue, which is encouraging, but he quickly headed to the dugout after just one toss.

The good news is it isn’t an arm injury, and it is only April. However, hamstring injuries are tricky, and the Braves won’t take any risks with the ace of their staff. There’s a chance he will head to the IL and miss a few times through the rotation. In his place, I would expect to see Bryce Elder, but Ian Anderson is also an option.

We will update you as more news regarding Max Fried’s injury presents itself.
