The NBA Draft is tomorrow, and nobody knows what the Hawks are going to do.
The most popular storyline is Alex Sarr and him going No. 2 to the Wizards being seen as a lock, but also that the Hawks are willing to take him No. 1, which may force the Wizards to trade up.
Brian Windhorst doesn’t see Donovan Clingan in the conversation for the No. 1 overall pick, which leaves Zaccharie Risacher, who Jonathan Givony believes to be the pick, he told Zach Lowe on the Lowe Post.
“I think if anything but Zaccharie Risacher happens at 1, I think that would be a big surprise around the NBA.”
Vegas is quite confident it will be the French wing as well. Oddsmakers at FanDuel have Zaccharie Risacher as the heavy betting favorite at -250 odds to be the No. 1 overall pick, followed by Donovan Clingan at +250 and Alex Sarr at +750.
This isn’t a guarantee by any means. A lot can change in the next 24+ hours, but it seems the Hawks are trending towards Risacher, which would make a lot of sense for a club that is in desperate need of point of attack defense on the perimeter and length on the wing offensively. He should be able to immediately contribute defensively with Trae Young. The hope is that if he reaches his ceiling, he can be the quintessential 3-and-D wing that everyone in the NBA is looking for.
The Hawks would then have a long, versatile wing rotation of De’Andre Hunter, Jalen Johnson, and Zaccharie Risacher.
