Last week, Rob Perez gave us a glimpse of what one of the Hawks new kits looked like, showing off a black alternate look. Today, the team revealed all three of their new primary uniforms. Spoiler Alert: it’s a major upgrade.

The Hawks couldn’t have possibly gone in a worse direction than what they currently had. The triangle print with the volt green accent looked like something you might see at a local AAU tournament. They were unquestionably the NBA’s worst uniforms, making this switch a pleasant surprise.

The Hawks changed a ton, and every bit of it was warranted. First off, they went back to their old school color combinations with the PacMan logo. They also changed the “ATL” logo on the front of the pants. As you can see, on the red and white jerseys, it now says “Hawks,” and even on the black “statement” jerseys, where the “ATL” lettering remains on the shorts, it no longer looks like a toddler with a highlighter drew it.
Overall, Hawks fans should be pleased. If nothing else, we no longer have to look at that gaudy volt green anymore. Hopefully, with these new threads, comes more success. The Hawks were a laughing stock in their old uniforms, but the entire organization looks to be turning a corner. It started with the recent renovations of State Farm Arena, and these new kits are just another step in the right direction. Considering the amount of young talent the Hawks currently possess, ownership is on the road to making Atlanta the epicenter of basketball in the South.
