With a doubleheader coming up Saturday, the Braves must add some arms to fill the void. They currently have TBD listed for both games tomorrow, but it looks like we know who one of the starters will be.
According to David O’Brien of The Athletic, Allan Winans will join the Braves and start one of the doubleheaders tomorrow, along with Spencer Strider.
#Braves’ Winans and Strider will start Saturday’s doubleheader games, though not decided yet which one Strider will pick to start. Good chance of rain tomorrow, I’d guess they’ll look at forecast expected rain times.

Winans made his MLB debut for the Braves earlier this season, giving up a couple of runs over 4.1 innings of work. However, his 1.65 FIP in the game suggests he pitched much better than that. In Gwinnett, Winans has been a star, going 8-3 with a 2.79 ERA.
As Justin Toscano also notes, this is a big moment for Winans, who was previously a part of the Mets organization and was left unprotected from the Rule 5 Draft.
This will be a fun story: A couple years ago, the Mets did not even protect Allan Winans from the minor-league rule 5 draft.
Now, he gets a shot to get the last laugh here. https://t.co/ac4D4nme8w

On top of that, this is a real chance for Winans to earn more opportunities at the major-league level. As has been well documented, the Braves rotation has been scuffling, pitching to the tune of the second worst ERA in baseball since the All-Star break. Yonny Chirinos already has one foot out the door. It’s possible he is DFA’d as early as Monday, especially if Winans has a solid outing tomorrow.
As far as the other starter, Spencer Strider is looking to bounce back after arguably the worst start of his career in which he gave up six runs over 2.2 innings while giving up an uncharacteristic three free passes. The Braves need the hard throwing righty to get out of this slump.
