Multiple Falcons are nursing injuries. Drake London missed last week’s contest against the Vikings, marking the first of his career. DeMarcco Hellams and Keith Smith also missed the game, while Dee Alford and Mack Hollins went down with lower leg injuries.
Fortunately, London was welcomed back to practice today, which bodes well for his chances of playing on Sunday in Arizona against the Cardinals. Taylor Heinicke might be playing for his job because Arthur Smith noted the Falcons will re-evaluate the quarterback position going into the bye week. Thankfully, he’ll have the offense’s top receiver.
And fortunately, the rest of the injured players seem to be trending in the right direction as well. Arthur Smith added they’re progressing well and have a chance to be available this week.
Arthur Smith said injured #Falcons players DeMarcco Hellams, Dee Alford and Mack Hollins are progressing well but will be on the side field rehabbing today. But seems like all will have a chance to be available for this week.

Dee Alford is obviously the most important one to monitor here. He’s been one of the unsung heroes of the Falcons’ improved defense. Manning the nickel position, the CFL product has showcased legitimate NFL talent. Alford isn’t just getting by; he’s thriving.
After exiting the game on Sunday, Mike Hughes came in for Alford and struggled mightily. It looked like he lost Brandon Powell in coverage on what became the game-winning touchdown for the Vikings.
DeMarcco Hellams’ playing time has increased in recent weeks after the club moved on from Jaylinn Hawkins as the defense’s third safety. Mack Hollins’ snaps have diminished in that same period due to the acquisition of Van Jefferson and Arthur Smith’s desire to get more speed on the field. Both are integral pieces of the Falcons special teams, though.
We will monitor these situations as the week progresses.
