The Falcons are in the market for a new head coach, and after going with first-time options for the last two hires, Arthur Blank has seemingly shifted his focus to a candidate with more experience.
Though the club has publically cast a wide net into the hiring pool, every national pundit is pointing to one name as Atlanta’s top target — Bill Belichick. Despite the Falcons conducting or requesting interviews with the top candidates (Ben Johnson, Bobby Slowik, Anthony Weaver, etc.), all signs seemingly point to the architect of the greatest dynasty in sports history.
Granted, there’s been no substantiated reports. There are just reports of rumors and feelings, but generally, where there’s smoke, there’s fire with these sorts of things.
When one of the most connected names in the business, Fox Sports insider Jay Glazer, throws out an opinion that the Falcons are the team to land Bill Belichick, people should listen. What he added at the end of this prediction is especially interesting is that Arthur Blank is “big game hunting” for his next head coach.

I’d say the biggest fish on the head coach market is Bill Belichick, at least in terms of name value. However, depending on your definition of “biggest fish” Arthur Blank could be targeting a number of candidates.
Ben Johnson and Bobby Slowik are the two hottest offensive gurus in this hiring cycle. There will be no shortage of suitors for both offensive coordinators. Jim Harbaugh is certainly of the trophy fish variety, and he would be a grand slam of a hire for the Falcons. Hell, I’d even consider Mike Vrabel to be a big fish.
Arthur Blank may initially want Bill Belichick, but going through the process of interviews may change his mind. The Falcons shouldn’t be as set in stone on one candidate without considering all the options.
