The Falcons find themselves in need of multiple additions to the defensive side of the ball in the wake of injuries.
Justin Simmons is visiting Atlanta following news of DeMarrco Hellams’ ankle injury, one that will keep him out significant time. The best free agent on the market would give the Falcons one of, if not the best safety duo in the league, but it’s not the only position that needs to be addressed.
Bralen Trice has been lost for the season, and replacing him may not be as straightfoward. The free agent market isn’t robust with options, but the answer could lie on the trade market.
Many Falcons fans have been clamoring for Haason Reddick, who requested another trade this offseason, this time from the Jets. I’m one of them. Even though New York put out a statement they won’t be trading Reddick, that shouldn’t deter Terry Fontenot from inquiring.
This should’ve been a priority even before the Bralen Trice injury, but here we are, once again begging for the Falcons to find a premier pass rusher. Another one appears to be on the trade market as well.
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Patriots have fielded calls from multiple teams inquiring about a potential trade for Matthew Judon.
Multiple teams have inquired about trading for pass rusher Matthew Judon amid his contract stalemate with the #Patriots, per sources.

Since signing with New England in 2021, the veteran has racked up 32 sacks and 33 tackles for loss over 38 games in Foxborough. Judon turns 32 before the start of the season and is coming off a season-ending bicep injury, so that’s why the Patriots might be hesitant to give him a new deal.
The Falcons should obviously be weary of those circumstances, but he would still easily be the best pass rusher the Falcons have had since John Abraham. An inquiry at the very least seems appropriate, but some sort of addition to the pass rush needs to happen before the start of the season.
