Nobody wants to see injuries, especially to star players. Unfortunately, Bryce Harper is hitting the injured list with a fractured thumb after being hit by a pitch Saturday night.
Bryce Harper has a broken left thumb and will be out for a while. Joins a list of stars currently on the IL, including Mookie Betts, Jacob deGrom, Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado, Max Scherzer, Salvador Perez, Ozzie Albies, Walker Buehler, Chris Sale and Stephen Strasburg.

Hopefully Harper makes a full recovery. With Harper likely missing the All Star Game, William Contreras has the opportunity to start now:

Contreras is still a ways behind Harper, but if Bryce can’t go, you have to imagine Contreras will take the top spot. He’s been electric in 2022, and he deserves to go to the game. Whether or not he’ll start, with Harper injured, is still up in the air.
