Amon-Ra St. Brown bashes Falcons fans, who sold out season tickets, for lack of support

NFL: DEC 26 Lions at Falcons

For the first time in nearly 20 years, the Falcons have sold out of their season tickets, which ironically makes the same news cycle as Amon-Ra St. Brown bashing Atlanta fans for their lack of support. On an appearance on Hot Ones Versus, alongside Davante Adams, St. Brown said the Packers and Falcons were the worst fan bases in the NFL.

“I hate the Packers’ fans,” St. Brown said. “Just because it’s Green Bay, I play for Detroit. But I think some of the worst fans was the Falcons. When we played them my rookie year, no one was there. Terrible… I hate Green Bay, their fans. They have good fans for the team, but I hate them. But is there that much to do in Atlanta? I don’t know, because ain’t nobody going to the game.”

St. Brown is referring to the Week 16 contest in 2021 when the Falcons were 6-8. Atlanta beat Detroit by a score of 20-16 to improve to 7-8 but would eventually finish the season 7-10. St. Brown put up an impressive performance in that contest, with nine catches for 91 yards and a touchdown.

Ironically, the Falcons revealed today, via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, that they have sold out their season tickets for the first time in nearly two decades.

Despite riding a six-season playoff drought, the Falcons fan base is obviously excited about the 2024 campaign. Whether it’s Kirk Cousins, Michael Penix Jr., or Raheem Morris, there’s palpable excitement around Atlanta.

Amon-Ra St. Brown definitely isn’t wrong about the Falcons fan base. I’m sorry to be the one to tell you that. Mercedes-Benz Stadium is regularly dominated by opposing fan bases, but it hasn’t been easy for Falcons fans.

This team, under Arthur Smith with Marcus Mariota and Desmond Ridder, was a horror show. It wasn’t very fun to watch, so who could blame Falcons fans for not spending their hard-earned dollars on a terrible product? Certainly not me.

St. Brown’s experience in Atlanta has been commonplace in recent years, but there are signs of that changing ahead of this season, in large part thanks to the two new quarterbacks and coaching staff.
