The Braves have been absolutely hammered by injuries this season. At a certain point, all of these players have spent significant time on the injured list — Ronald Acuna Jr., Spencer Strider, Sean Murphy, Austin Riley, Ozzie Albies, Max Fried, Michael Harris II, A.J. Minter, and Pierce Johnson.
That is nine All-Star caliber players that have missed a lot of baseball for the Braves. Thankfully, there’s been a couple of silver linings. Strider’s elbow injury didn’t require reconstructive Tommy John surgery, so his rehab should take much less time.
And we just got good news on Ronald Acuna Jr., who is expected to return to Atlanta around Opening Day next season, according to Alex Anthopoulos.

The Braves sorely miss the reigning MVP. Not only do they miss his infectious attitude, but they desperately miss his offense. Home runs, runs, walks, steals, and everything in between.
Acuna gave Atlanta so much out of the leadoff role last year, and they’ve struggled mightily to even replace a portion of what the superstar is capable of giving the Braves.
One thing I am wondering is how slow they take it with Acuna. Remember, in 2022, his playing time was limited, which is surely to be the case again in 2025. Granted, he tore his ACL in 2021 later in the season than in 2024, but the Braves still have to be cautious with him.
